The highly compressed 20kg bale, is packaged in a unique way with no strings in a light coloured polythene bag which means it can be stored outside.
The specialist production of Horse Haylage initially involves the grass being cut, wilted and packaged. Once packaged the haylage is preserved in its natural state, unlike hay which has to be almost completely dry, with the loss of valuable nutrients.
Haylage has a higher feed value than hay, cutting the need for large amounts of hard feed. This allows the horse's digestive system to function as nature intended. A high fibre bulk diet, such as haylage can help prevent a rapid increase in stomach and large intestinal acid content, stimulating and aiding the explulision of accumulated gas bubbles that can lead to colic.
